This is the first course in GIS. This Internet-based distance course is a balanced mix of theoretical foundation and practical applications dealing with cartography and map projections, raster/vector data models and analyses, databases and attributes, data capture, and visualization. By completing the course the student will 

  • have a basic, theoretical and practical understanding of GIS, and
  • be able to work independently with various types of geographical data in GIS.

This course focus on statistics in geography from descriptive statistics to different statistical analysis tools such as analysis of variance, correlation and regressions.
